Scripture Files is an 11 week series where kids will be encouraged to memorize the books of the Bible as they learn about a different section of the Bible each week. They will begin an investigation with Detective Anita Clue to find out if the Bible really is the Word of God. In addition, we have included a bonus Easter weekend package you can use in conjunction with this series or separately.

Week 1

  • Bible Story - The Bible - What's the Big Deal? (Romans 10:13-17; 1 Peter 3:15)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should know the Bible and be ready to explain it.

  • Apologetics Question - What makes the Bible different from other books?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn there are 66 books in the Bible, 39 books in the Old Testament, and 27 books in the New Testament.

Week 2

  • Bible Story - The Flood - Did that Really Happen? (Genesis 6:7-9:17)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should be willing to stand out for what I believe in.

  • Apologetics Question - Where did the Bible come from?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the first five books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

Week 3

  • Bible Story - Jericho, Did the Walls Really Fall? (Joshua 6:1-24)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should trust God to fight my battles.

  • Apologetics Question - How do we know the Bible is from God?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next twelve books of the Bible: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther.

Week 4

  • Bible Story - Job: Real or Fiction? (Job 1-42)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should trust God even when I have a bad day.

  • Apologetics Question - Why were the 66 books chosen to be in the Bible?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next five books of the Bible: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon.

Week 5

  • Bible Story - God Calls Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:1-12)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should trust God because He has a plan for my life.

  • Apologetics Question - What is the Apocrypha and why isn't it included in the Bible?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next five books of the Bible: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel.

Week 6

  • Bible Story - Zechariah's Message (Zechariah 1:1-6)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should trust God because He does what He says He will do.

  • Apologetics Question - Did the prophecies in the Old Testament come true?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next twelve books of the Bible: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.

Week 7

  • Bible Story - Miracles or Magic? (Matthew 12:22-29)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should trust God because He is more powerful than Satan.

  • Apologetics Question - Who decided which books would be included in the Bible?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next four books of the Bible: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Week 8

  • Bible Story - Lucky or Blessed? (Acts 12:1-16)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should trust God because He knows my needs.

  • Apologetics Question - In which language was the Bible first written?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next book of the Bible: Acts.

Week 9

  • Bible Story - Paul, the Encourager (Philippians 1:1-5; Colossians 1:1-5; Philemon 1:1-6)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should encourage others to trust God.

  • Apologetics Question - Why are there so many translations of the Bible?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next 13 books of the Bible: Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, and Philemon.

Week 10

  • Bible Story - Listen and Do! (James 1:19-25)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should listen to God's Word and do what it says.

  • Apologetics Question - How do I choose which translation is right for me?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the next 8 books of the Bible: Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, and Jude.

Week 11

  • Bible Story - What is it like and how do I get there? (Revelation 21:3-27; John 14:1-3)

  • Today's Takeaway - I should trust God because there's room for me in Heaven.

  • Apologetics Question - Why does the Bible seem to have errors and contradict itself?

  • Weekly Memorization Goal - Kids will learn the last book of the Bible: Revelation.

Bonus Material: Good Friday

  • Bible Story - The Last Supper (Mark 14:22-25)

  • Today's Takeaway - Jesus gave His life for you and me.

  • Apologetics Question - How do we know Jesus is God?

  • Weekly Verse - "Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but He died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but He was raised to life in the Spirit." (1 Peter 3:18)

Bonus Material: Easter

  • Bible Story - He is Risen! (Matthew 28:1-14)

  • Today's Takeaway - Jesus rose again to give us new life through Him.

  • Apologetics Question - How do we know Jesus really rose from the dead?
